Pulling Up From the Low Places Again

There is never a place so low as the one where you know you can not be any lower.  You know it is absolutely the lowest you can ever be and you also know that if you cannot find a way to pull up from the low place you will be in utter despair.

This is the place I have found myself since my husband's death.  The absolute reality of never seeing him again this side of heaven has been devastating.

No matter the reason of your low place, there are some things we can actually anchor ourselves upon during times of sorrow and grief, frustrations or disappointments, tragedies or crisis.

Recently, there was a movie, War Room, that depicted the a woman who faced all of life's battles in the war room.  It was a place of prayer.  While many women have found that to be a refuge for them, others cannot seem to find that intimate place with God in their heart.  They serve Him but they feel distant and it is difficult to establish a habitual prayer life.

Here are a few additional pieces that we can add to our war room of prayer to help us become more intimate with God through prayer, a place to bring ourselves to, a place to pull up from low places as well as give praise to Jesus Christ our Lord.

Every woman needs a bed of rest.  First and foremost, find a place of stillness, consolation, peace, quiet, and comfort.  It is seldom that we, as women, take the time to find it.  We are much more comfortable being busy.

Isaiah 30:15 "In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength."

Placing a bed of rest in our prayer closet, we can lie down with Him and the quiet waters will soothe our weary soul.

Every woman needs a table of power. 2 Timothy 1:7 "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and a sound mind." Power is a sense of beneficial boldness, knowledge, affirmation, and confirmation coupled with activity.  That is not a dictionary meaning, but one of experience.  Add love, a sound mind, which is good judgment, disciplined thought patterns, and the ability to make good choices and decisions, self control and self discipline and you have the perfect Table of Power.

Next, every woman needs a seat of praise.  Hebrews 13:15 "Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to his name."   Once the praise goes up, the Holy Spirit comes down.  Our intimacy between God and ourselves can be experienced in an indescribable closeness with Him.

Every woman needs a candlestick of direction. Job 22:28 "You will also declare a thing, and it will be established for you; so light will shine on your ways."  When the Lord shines the light of direction, we are good to go.  The light turns on in our head and ideas, plans, how to's , what not's, and wherefores, are all in place.  Hang with Him until the candlestick of direction shines.

Pulling up from the low places requires a war room filled with a bed, a table, a seat and a candlestick.  Once we have all those pieces in place, the low places become the high places...easy smeasy, right?  Not always, but get the room ready and see that the Lord is good.
